Softball Australia provides an opportunity for players to excel in the sport through four national teams: the Aussie SteelersCTI Aussie Spirit, CTI Aussie Pride and Aussie Colts. Selection for each team is the goal of many aspiring young softball players.

Players are developed for the national teams through the long term athlete development pathway that includes selection in a club team initially before progressing to an association team and finally a state team. Each state team competes annually at an Australian championship in their respective age group which is a selection event for the national team.

A number of visiting teams tour regularly and provide an important opportunity to play and compete in match conditions with an additional benefit of being introduced to the Australian culture.

The four national teams represent Australia's senior and junior men and women's softball teams at the ISF World Championships. The Aussie Steelers and the CTI Aussie Spirit are the names of the senior men and women's teams. The junior women and men's teams are known as the CTI Aussie Pride and Aussie Colts. All four teams have performed admirably on the world stage.
